My Favorite Baby Stuff, a Grandma's Review of Must Have Things, New Baby Products

It's been a long time since I had a baby. Back then my best baby things were the wind up swing, the baby backpack (Gerry carrier), and the car seat. When I had my first child a car seat sat up like a chair, and was held in place by posts that you shoved down between the seats, it was more so the kid could see out the window than for safety. By the time my youngest was born the car safety seat as we know it now had come into being, and soon after it was legally required to have one to transport a baby in a car.

Well I have a baby grandson now, and baby equipment has certainly improved. I thought I would share a few of his favorite things. None of these things costs over $40 and it is all baby stuff that didn't exist when I was a new mom. I think they are great ideas for baby shower gifts.

That's my grandson in the video, the thing he's sucking on is the Munchkin Fresh Food Feeder. As you can see, he just loves it, he can't get enough. Why didn't someone think of this sooner?

The seat he is sitting in the Bumbo baby seat, it is a wonderful little foam seat that helps the him sit upright before he can balance on his own. You can also get a tray that attaches to it. It is great for feeding on the go, and just to let him sit with everyone else.

I've just noticed some information on the internet that there have been some problems with babies falling in the bumbo baby seat and getting hurt. Some people had put the baby on an elevated surface like a table and the baby kicked itself loose or knocked the seat over. It seems pretty obvious to me that's a bad idea. I still love this seat, but stay close, don't set your baby on a table or leave your baby unattended in it.

His first favorite thing, which he loved when he was 3 days old up until about 5 months, was the Fisher-Price Bouncer Seat. It has a button you can turn on to make it vibrate, or just give it a little tap and it bounces. It was very soothing in those first few weeks.

One product that my grandson doesn't use, but it looks like it would be great is the Wubbanub Infant Pacifier. Every baby I have ever seen with a pacifier is constantly dropping it. This one has a little stuffed animal attached to it, so it's much easier for the baby to hold onto.
